Mulch Installation with Hedge Trimming

Mulch Installation with Hedge Trimming

On April 24th, 2025, Carolina Upkeep completed a landscaping project in a neighborhood in Conway, SC. The scope of the work focused on cleaning up existing beds and installing fresh mulch to refresh the overall appearance of the yard.

We began by cleaning the landscaping beds where mulch would be laid. This step included removing loose debris, old leaves, and any plant material that would interfere with the new mulch. Clearing the beds first ensured a clean surface and made the planting lines more defined.

Hedges were trimmed in all directions to remove older leaves and to encourage healthier regrowth. Trimming from multiple angles helps create a neater shape and improves air and light flow through the plants, which supports future growth.

Next, weeds and grass that had encroached into the landscaping beds were cut to ground level with weedeaters. Cutting these plants down allowed us to prevent the new mulch from being layered over tall weeds, and it made the beds look tidy before mulch was applied.

After all debris was removed and the beds were prepared, we laid 2.5 cubic yards of mulch across the landscaping beds. The mulch was spread to a depth ranging from 1.5 inches to 2.5 inches, which provides good coverage while avoiding smothering plant roots. This depth also helps retain soil moisture and suppress new weed growth.

Once the mulch was in place, the crew smoothed and evened it out across all beds so the mulch appeared consistent from every angle. Taking the time to level the material gives the landscape a finished, professional look and keeps mulch from piling up against plant stems or tree trunks.

Every step of the project was done on site in Conway, SC, with attention to detail and cleanliness. The beds were left free of loose debris and trimmed plant material, and the fresh mulch layer improved curb appeal immediately. Homeowners can expect easier maintenance and better moisture retention in the beds because of the mulch depth we installed.
