Iron Mountain 2"x1" Rock Installation

In December of 2025, Carolina Upkeep LLC completed a landscaping project for a homeowner in Lakeside Crossing, off University Forest Drive in Conway, SC. The scope of work combined hardscape ground cover and turf improvement to refresh the front yard and planting beds.

We began by cleaning up the landscaping beds, removing debris and any loose material that could interfere with the new installation. After the beds were prepared, landscaping fabric was laid down to create a stable base and help limit weed growth under the rock.

Next we installed Iron Mountain 2"x1" rock over the fabric. The rock was spread evenly across the beds and laid in a wavy pattern to create visual interest while maintaining an even coverage. During this step we also punched small holes through the landscaping fabric where plants were located. Those holes allow water to pass through to the soil so the existing plants continue to receive moisture and nutrients.

With the beds finished, we turned our attention to the lawn. To improve curb appeal and make the front yard look more presentable, we installed SOD using 1.5 pallets of Centipede grass. The sod was placed and fitted to the front lawn area so the turf had good soil contact for rooting in.

Finally, we trimmed the plants and hedges around the property to give a neat, finished appearance after the new rock and sod were in place. Trimming helped balance the refreshed ground surfaces with the existing plant heights and shapes.
